Face of South Asia 2019


Pune witnessed a glamorous extravagant end a few days ago where 41 aspiring models from 4 different countries viz. India, Nepal, Sri Lanka & The Middle East were put up on one common stage and battled it out to win the “Face of India / Nepal/ Sri Lanka/Middle East 2019” titles respectively culminating with the grand Face of South Asia 2019 title at Arth, Westin Hotel, the winners of which were crowned by Celebrity and Bollywood actor, Mr Jackie Shroff.  Mr Eui Sig Yang – Chairman of Asia Model Festival, Ms Hee Young Na – Managing Director of EDGC, Mr Young Tae Park – CEO of MyGenomeBox, Ms Supriya Aiman – Ms India International & Asia Star Model, Ms Elena Fernandes – International Supermodel & Actress and Badal Saboo, Chairman – Asia Model Festival were a part of the jury for this event.

‘FACE OF INDIA is one of the largest and most bespoke platforms to promote cultures within Asia’s fashion fraternity’.

The winners of the respective countries were as under:

  1. A) Face of India: Pradhyumn Jat (M) & Sushmita Gupta (F)
  2. B) Face of Nepal: Ashish KC (M) & Nirmala Neupane (F)
  3. C) Face of Sri Lanka: Roshan Duminda (M) & Taslabagh Senadeera (F)
  4. D) Face of Middle East: Wahid Bhat (M) & Paniza Rehmana (F)

Face of South Asia 2019 Winners were Pradhyumn Jat (M) from India and Taslabagh Senadeera (F) from Sri Lanka. The winners have not only won the title but will also represent their respective countries in an all-expense paid a trip at the Asia New Star Model Contest 2019 at the ASIA MODEL FESTIVAL 2019 that is being scheduled in the 1st week of June at South Korea.

The commencement of the event was done with some awe-inspiring visual effects and the show witnessed some amazing cultural integration with Kathak performances by Mrs Shravari, National Award Winner from Sangeet Natak Akadami Delhi for Kathak and the 3rd Indian to perform at Opera house Australia besides being a Film fare and Screen best actress award winner for the film Bindhaast. The audience also witnessed a sneak peek into the world of Kpop, a place where music transcends the language with a foot-tapping performance by the crew Ddaeng. Asia Model Festival Organizing Committee (AMFOC) is an affiliate of the Ministry of Culture & Tourism, Republic of South Korea, and a non-profit organization established in 1976 for the purpose of promotion and protection of Models’ rights & interest and related business.

There are twenty-five participating countries namely: Mongolia, Korea, Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, India, China, Hongkong, Thailand, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Taiwan etc. AMFOC has been organizing this event for the past 10 years. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Eui Sig Yang – Chairman of Asia Model Festival said “The Asia Model Festival plays a role as the centre hub to familiarize and span the perfection of Asian fashion and beauty industries to the whole world. It consists of various sophisticated shows such as each country’s traditional clothing shows, fashion shows, hair shows and beauty shows on the stage. It’s expected to open up new breakthroughs for them to grow as global brands”. Badal Saboo Chairman, Face of South Asia further added, “Through this pageant, we have tried to help the immense talent that exists in our Tier 2 & Tier 3 cities by providing them with a truly world apart platform and experience to make their mark in the international arena of Fashion and modelling. This pageant has surely brought the best of opportunities for aspiring models from the 4 participating countries. Unlike other pageants, this doesn’t end for the winners here. They get to go meet different people from the same fraternity, experience their culture, their ways and get an abundance of exposure at the largest and most prestigious platforms in Asia’s fashion fraternity”.
