Acclaimed Sufi singer and younger brother of Ustad Puranchand Wadali passed away this morning after suffering a cardiac arrest in Amritsar.
It is indeed a sad day for the Sufi music fraternity.
Acclaimed Sufi singer and younger brother of Ustad Puranchand Wadali passed away this morning after suffering a cardiac arrest in Amritsar.
Confirming the news to India Vocal, a source close to the kin, said, “This morning, he left us due to cardiac arrest. We are deeply saddened and shocked.”
For the last respects, the mortal remains of Ustad will be taken to his native Wadali Dogran village.
The World knew the Wadali Brothers for their Sufi music. They are the fifth generation of musicians. Before starting off as Sufi singers, they dabbled in wrestling, acted in rasleela. The Wadali Brothers started their journey in the field of music as bhajan singers at Harballah temple in Jalandhar. They were proficient in gurbani, bhajans, kaafin and ghazals and used to teach music to their disciples for free.

Wadali Brothers devoted their simple life to the divine one. They were the medium through which the preaching of the saint would be passed to others.
While keeping Sufi music alive, they also ventured into Bollywood with the movie, Pinjar in the year 2003. Later they lent their voices to songs like AyeRangrezMere, IkTuHiTuHi, Tumaaneyanamane.
